Your Kidde Fire Extinguisher is Always Ready With The Tacmolle Fire Extinguisher Mount
Why Have A Fire Extinguisher
Fire in any situation can turn deadly. Your van is no different. While car fires are often caused by collisions, they can also be caused by poor wiring and faulty fuel systems. Cigarettes and candles can also lead to fires in your van. What can you do to be ready for such an unexpected event?
First off you can make sure you keep your van in good repair and have it serviced at the specified intervals. If you are building out your own van make sure you have the skills required to safely install your electrical and gas devices. Regardless though of how well your van is built and maintained, you should always carry at least two fire extinguishers that are readily and easily available in the front and rear of the van.
If a fire starts in the rear, you don’t want to have to go to the front of the van to get the extinguisher. The sooner the sodium bicarbonate hits the fire, the less damage there will be to the van and lives can potentially be saved. I have one Kidde extinguisher mounted at the outside of my passenger seat (installed by Winnebago) and the other on the rear door MOLLE panel.
Where To Mount It
A fire extinguisher needs to be readily available to the driver in the event there is a fire. The driver needs to be able to grab it quickly in order to put out the fire as soon as possible. Common locations in the front of the vehicle are under the seats or in the glovebox.
The extinguisher must be securely mounted so it does not become a projectile in an accident. If you are traveling at 40 mph and get into a head on collision, everything that is not secured will travel towards the front of the vehicle at 40 mph. This can be deadly.
Many fire extinguishers come with plastic mounts designed for hanging on a wall in a stationary building. Vehicles need a much more secure mount like the TacMolle mount.
Installation
The installation process is very easy. My MOLLE panel has larger slots than the holder was designed for, but one of the Amazon reviews explained how to make it work on my panel.
I had to get two large washers and two longer bolts to make it fit. You can see the washers and bolts in the pictures below. Send me a message if you need more clarification on this modification.
Why Choose The TacMolle And Kidde Combo
The TacMolle mounts securely to your MOLLE panel and will stay put during an accident or rough driving situations. The simple red quick release lever allows you to easily grab the extinguisher and start using it on the fire immediately. Once you pull the TacMolle red knob, the extinguisher rocks forward and is removed freely (see image below).
The Kidde fire extinguisher is a very well known brand and is the one Winnebago chose to equip my van with in the front. I trust the brand and it gets great reviews.

Final Thoughts
While I hope we never need to use either of our fire extinguishers, I feel better knowing we are prepared for any flammable liquid, gas or electrical fire. I am very impressed with how solidly the TacMolle mount secures to the MOLLE panel and the Kidde extinguisher. The ease with which the red pin releases the extinguisher from the mount is very quick and smooth.
The Kidde fire extinguisher is a very well know and trusted brand which adds to the confidence that it will perform well should that day ever come.
This is a great combination with a very nice look.
