Finding This Great Mat
During a late summer camping trip in the Lake Tahoe area at White Cloud Campground, rain fell unexpectedly over the entire area. With dirt, sand and mud everywhere we went, it was hard to keep the van floor clean. We needed a mat.
We went into a hardware store in Truckee looking for a floor mat to fit inside the side doorway of the van. The selection was pretty slim, but they had this Chiliwich mat, which apparently is super popular and durable.
Our Experience
Over the past few months of using the Chiliwich door mat, we have been very impressed with how well it brushes dirt, mud and sand from our shoes. One of the best aspects is how well it traps the dirt deep down below the surface. You never feel like you are stepping on a dirty mat.
When it time to clean it, just shake it and all the debris falls right out. Want to brighten it up a bit? Just give it a quick hosing off and it looks like new.
It’s In The Technology
Chiliwich’s signature Shag texture is made from their stain resistant TerraStrand yarns. These small loops are what brush the bottom of your feet or shoes and let it fall deep in the carpet. The dirt is then trapped and not reapplied to your feet or shoes next time you step on it. It’s a pretty cleaver design.

Our Conclusion
As the saying goes, you pay for quality. We must admit the price shocked us a bit at first, but after using it multiple times in all sorts of conditions, we are ready to get one for our front door at home.
