PROTECT YOUR ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AT ALL COST

JUGGERNAUT USA Promasters / Sprinters / Nissan NV

Whether you go off-road, stay on the pavement or do a mixture of both, there are hazards out there you want to avoid. Often times you don’t know they are there until it’s too late. Over the years I have had my share of hitting rocks, stumps and an array of road debris.

Under your van, the heart of your vehicle is right out there in the open. Drive over something that is taller than your engine’s ground clearance and you risk damaging your engine, transmission and many other vital components.

Skid plates are designed to take the brunt of those items and protect the parts that keep you rolling happily along. Don’t overlook the value and potential mechanical cost savings of installing a Juggernaut USA engine skid plate.

Why Juggernaut Skid Plates

Juggernaut’s front skid plate is a fairly easy bolt on product providing a ton of protection. It’s lightweight yet very strong, It looks great and doesn’t interfere with changing your oil. Whether it’s a rock, piece of wood or a number of items you might find in the middle of the road, you are well protected.

  • Made from 3/16″ aluminum.
  • Powder-coated black for rust and abrasion resistance.

The Installation Process

The installation is easier with two people, but I didn’t have a friend around so I took it on by myself. I was surprised that it was actually pretty easy to do by myself and without jacking the car up.

The most difficult part was getting the correct orientation of where the rear brackets mounted. Once I looked at the underside of the van and the instructions for awhile, I finally figured it our. The rear brackets were fairly easy to get bolted into place.

The front brackets were a little more tricky as the spaces are very tight where the securing bolts needed to go. I finally got smart and grabbed a pillow so I could relax a bit as I patiently worked to get them in and secured.

Once the four brackets were in, it was just a matter of bolting the skid plate to them. I can see that a lot of thought and engineering went into this design and I feel very confident my engine, transmission and catalytic converter are well protected from whatever hazards I might run into.

The Day After The Install

Well I certainly did not expect to see how well the skid plate worked within 24 hours of installing it.  I was driving down a residential street that had a huge hole across the entire lane. As I cam upon it I realized too late that it was way too big to be hitting it at my current speed. I put on the brakes, the front tires dropped into the hole with a loud bang as the skid plate hit the asphalt with a tremendous impact.

As I drove a few more blocks I worried what I would find when I got out and looked. The sound and the pounding I felt definitely had me worried. To my surprise and relief, the only damage was the scrapes you see in the picture below.

The skid plate was not bent. The brackets were not bent. Everything was protected just as the skid plate was designed to do.

Juggernaut USA’s skid plate gets my vote for a great product. While I hope to never test its abilities again, if I happen to, I feel confident my Promaster’s engine, transmission and catalytic will be protected.

Conclusion

This product is built to protect and that is exactly what it does. I feel confident my engine, transmission and catalytic converter are safe from whatever the roads and trails throw at me. This bolt on skid plate is the perfect protection for your RAM Promaster. If you own a Promaster or Nissan NV, take a look at what Juggernaut USA has for your van.

For the Promaster, even with the skid plate on, your ground clearance is still more than your rear axle.

If you have a Travato check out the skid plates for your generator and battery pack.
