Don’t Pass Up The Simple Mods
Many of the accent areas on my gray 2023 Promaster were black, but not as many as I wanted. I started with the exhaust pipe.
I got some high heat paint, cleaned off the metal pipe and gave it three good coats. Love that look.
Next I wanted to blackout the sliding side door rail. I used automotive wheel paint. I taped off a big area around it, applied four coats and let it dry for four days before I opened the side door. It looks great!
The newer Promasters, 2023 and newer, come with black wheels and a blacked out grill. I am so happy to have gotten a 2023, but the lugs are not black. I looked up ‘lug nut covers’ on Amazon and as you can imagine, there were a ton of options. The ones I chose seemed to have a good black color and a depth that matched the depth of the lug head.
Measure First
The lug nut covers come in different sizes. Originally I just put in ‘2023 Ram Promaster’ and purchased the ones they said would fit my vehicle. They did not fit. My lugs are 21mm wide and they said they 19mm size would fit. These items are noted as high return items for that reason.
Make sure you measure the width of the lug. Luckily Amazon returns are super easy if they don’t fit or don’t give you the look you were hoping for.

Our Conclusion
Well as you can see, they do not fully cover the metal of the flared lug nut so there is additional work to do. I may give each lug a couple of coats of black spray paint for a better blacked out look. So, for the money this was an easy way to add to the blacked out look I was going for. Would it be better to just buy black lug nuts? Perhaps. I will keep you posted.
