Anthony Chabot Campground, Oakland California

ONE OF THE BAY AREA’S BEST CAMPGROUNDS

This campground is just a 30 minute drive from my house and offers more than many campgrounds that are hours away. While it is fun to get on the road and venture out, this weekend called for a close to home camping experience. As I write this review, I am sitting out by my van under huge Eucalyptus trees swaying and creaking in the wind. Simply beautiful. It reminds me of Fallen Leaf Campground at Lake Tahoe. Let’s see what other things Anthony Chabot Campground has to offer.

It’s Quiet

Located 2.2 miles from the closest road, you will be treated to the sounds of birds chirping, trees swaying in the wind and no car noise. If you have read any of our other campground reviews, you know we have our fair share of road noise. This is one of the most peaceful campgrounds I have visited.  It sits high above Lake Chabot and offers many beautiful vistas around the campground. Most of the campsites are well spaced, which only adds to your relaxing getaway. Bring your camp chair and get ready to relax.

The Campsites

Because we tailor to the #VanLife community, you will be pleased to know that most all of the campsites have very level parking pads. It’s alway nice when you don’t have to get out the leveling blocks. See my ‘Best Campsite Choices’ below. As you sit around camp, you may find a few pesky yellow jackets buzzing around your site, but I haven’t seen any other insect. Of course time of year may have something to do with that.

Hiker And Biker’s Paradise

I highly recommend this campground! If you are a hiker, mountain biker, casual boater or into fishing, this campground is a must visit destination.
