Why Didn’t You Go With A Custom Builder Or DYI?

Well as much as we would have loved to have had a custom built van, they were all just way above our budget. We didn’t want to have to take out a loan, but boy those Sprinter vans really tempted me. Marla was good at keeping me grounded during our shopping excursion. We did see some amazing custom vans and actually visited one builder in our area. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area check them out. Glampervan. Maybe our second van will be custom 😉

As for why we didn’t DYI our own van, it came down to time, space and tools. I would have loved to build the van from scratch. I’m not sure Marla would have been so excited though.

With that said, I think even if we did have the time, space and tools, we were ready to get out on the road right away. Working full time and building a van would have eaten up a lot of adventure time. We are very happy with the way we did things.

Our mass produced van gives me plenty of opportunities for weekend modifications.

Do You Take All The Pictures You Post ?

looking through the big sur bridge at the sunset

Yes we do. We wanted everything you see to be a view we actually saw ourselves. Posting pictures somebody else took is their experience. We want our pictures to be specific to our reviews.

So many pictures on the internet have been altered to look better than they do in person. None of our pictures are altered which we believe lets you see what you will experience when you arrive.

We take a lot of pictures at each area we visit. When we get home I work out reviews around the photographs.

Do You Visit All The Campgrounds You Review?

The short answer is yes. We want every campground review to be specific for owners of class B style campers. The only way we can do that is to visit every campground we review. Most campgrounds we review we actually camp overnight, but if there are other campgrounds in the area, we may drive or ride our bikes through it.

There are many big sites out there that simply gather data from the internet to write their reviews. We give you specifics on how the campgrounds meet the needs of class B style camper vans. We do this by walking, biking or driving the entire campgrounds and making notes on the pros and cons of each site.

Do You Use All The Products You Review?

Yes, we feel that in order to give a real and honest review of a product, we must use it. Again, many sites will review and compare products without ever laying hands on them.

I love a good project or van modification so we will have plenty of things to review in the coming months.
